Harajuku on the Periphery: iPhone Does Tokyo

June 8th, 2010 | 6 Comments | Posted in Photos

Just because all you have at the time of a good photo opportunity is a low-quality iPhone camera, it doesn’t mean you have to end up with low-quality shots. I mean, you usually do, but sometimes…

Anyway, a little 気に入った photo I snapped in Harajuku while on a lunch break working in Omotesando. Lots to see in Harajuku besides the people and the shops.

    Great shot. Yes, I agree. I Have my “arty” photos on my art site (http://thomasgantzart.com) and then the photos for my blog which are mostly captured via my iPhone, and they are good enough to illistrate what I”m trying to point out in the post and sometimes even turn out cool, esepecially with the Hipstamatic iPhone software I’ve been playing around with a lot lately that creates cool retro square photos using your iPhone.

    It became a nice tool for sure. In a country like Japan where photography has always been loved iPhone is the perfect toy.
    Nevertheless I am also surprised with its capabilities. Check this out for instance:

    If there were no street address sign plate and look at the flyers only, it’s hard to tell that it is in Japan. I’ve been there only one time in my life, and it was fun to explore the shops, especially Geinou-jin shops. Are there any of your favorite shops there?

    Yeah, iPhone photography can be fun.

    Thanks for the picture link… very nice.

    @Taeko:
    Actually, I’m not a Harajuku shopper. I just pass through from time to time. My favorite kebab shop is right around the corner from the Meiji-dori entrance to Takeshita-dori, though. And, since I’ve been working in Omotesando every week lately, I always find time to have one :)
