World Cup Soccer at The Heartbreak Hotel
Last night, I met up with Prometheus, a fellow Japan blogger who also holds photography as one of his hobbies. You can check out some of his work at his new site Floating Camera Tokyo. We had planned to do some shooting together, but found a cool, little bar near Shinjuku 3-Chome to chill at and watch the Japan vs. Netherlands World Cup soccer match.

The place certainly does look inviting from the outside.

And, very chill inside…

As it turns out, we did manage to snap a few on the way back to Shinjuku Station

The vultures are swarming as Last Train Time approaches

Looks like a cool way to enjoy a cruise around Tokyo

As you probably know, Team Japan lost it’s match, but there was no shortage of people in blue jerseys around Tokyo still seemingly having a good time even after the match was decided.

nice post and great pictures, sucks Japan lost but they can still make it though if they win their next match!
Looking forward to meeting up when I get to Tokyo

Yeah, most definitely. We’ll try not to corrupt you too much when we hang…

Yeah, I would’ve liked to have gotten around and shot more, but I was beat yesterday. Sitting in that bar, drinking tequila cocktails, and listening to those screaming girls sapped the remainder of what I had in the tank.
Next time, we’ll have to choose a theme and then do a shooting challenge for the afternoon/evening/night, whichever…

Looks like a really mellow crowd in that bar. I would fall asleep our get kicked out of a place that relaxing.
BTW.
People from Holland eat babies. It sounds fucked up but you gotta trust me on this. They actually rip the heads off of new borns and drink their baby blood like a sports drink.
It boosts their protein.
Japan on the other hand is a protein “out” group.

That’s my unproven theory about why they lost.

Nice. That shot of the chill interior made me miss ol’ old J-town.
(p/s - I’d read Prometheus’s stuff before. Cool that you got to hang out.)
